Pope's 2 Cents on Miss California & Gay Marriage
First off I would like to give Honor and Glory to the BBP in the sky. What does that have to do with this you ask? Well, whether your into "Religion" or not, I think we can all agree that the universal commandment/law that is respected worldwide is marriage, which was indeed taken from the scriptures. That is indeed FACT! So, while we have taken God out of school, work and many other public genres, they have not (Not yet at least) taken God, unless the clergy incorrectly oversees the union, out of marriage.
So, per the scriptures, marriage should be between a man and a woman right? Of course. But let's face it, we are not living in a day and time where scriptures are being followed or honored. We live in a world conformed to fit what and how we feel, whether it be good or bad. But here's a shocker; Ask yourself why are diet plans made available to help one eat healthy?
Cause: Unhealthy Eating, Gluttony
Effect: Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Strokes, Obesity, Etc.
And where did the first dietary plans come from? The Scriptures?....Exactly! Is it a must to follow such plans? Of course not. But know that you put yourself at risk.
What about the bad things we do to our bodies, but yet we enjoy because they feel so good or it's cool?
Cause: Smoking, Drinking, Drugs, Tattoo's, Sex (Unwed)
Effect: Cancer, Liver Disease, Hepatitis, HIV, etc.
And where did the first law to protect your temple (Body) come from? Right again, The Scriptures! Is it a must to follow such guidlines? Of course not. But know that you put yourself at risk.
Truth be told, while the world has transformed through centuries, one thing cannot be denied, and that is that we were founded and based off of the scriptures, regardless of what side of the world you're on or walk of life you come from. You can look around in the constitutions and search many laws and you will find this to be evident. What we are facing right now is an epidemic. One where as we move further away from the scriptures and closer to "What we think" or "how we feel" we are dealt the next big blow to our Moral Cranium that causes us to see exactly what this world has become and exactly where it's heading.....A DEAD END!

Ok, so here's my point. Why oh Why are these Morons verbally and mentally abusing/attacking Miss California for standing up for what she believe in? Not to mention she was respectful in doing so? Yet, President Obama, George Bush and even Hilary has made the same stance on what they "Morally" believe in yet respect one's choice. The thing is people, had she took the "What we think" or "Political" path and said that she think GAY MARRIAGE should be legalized across the globe, she would be held as a class act and praised for her bravado! Praised for standing up for what “she” believed in and God only knows if she stated at that moment that she herself was indeed GAY, she probably would've won the Miss USA Contest and had a ticker tape parade held in her honor, and became a national spokeswoman for Gays and Lesbians Rights. But of course that didn't happen. Why is it that someone can stand up for something 'Morally Wrong' and be held as a saint, but someone who stands up for what is 'Morally Right' should be executed.... "Off with his/her head!" But the important word here is Morally and that varies.
Ellen DeGeneres, Rosie O'donnell, and Clay Aiken says, "Hey, I'm gay." Global awareness is made and everyone is happy for him/her. They're soooo brave and to be appreciated for helping others who are having problems admitting it. Well here's the thing; Question: Why is it that we aren't supposed to have any false idols? Answer: It's because these people in the lime light are idols to many, and people will indeed follow their lead. You know, "Well, if Michelle Obama thinks sleeveless dresses are cool, then I'm wearing them.” Or "Snoop Dogg smokes weed so Imma do it- 50 Cent carries guns so Imma have one.” This is how idolatry works (obviously to a lesser degree). And when the "Idols" come out saying, "Drugs are cool" "Sex, Rock & Roll is the way to go" then many that idolize them tends to agree....or at least try it. Think about the young teenage girls that watch the films with the hot chicks kissing and the guys thinking it's kool? So we tend to want that for ourselves one day and even the young women think making out with another girl is ok because of such films. C'mon, we've all been there, folks imitate what they see; just like the kids watching these "GangStars" on TV. My lawdy, I NEVER thought I'd see the day that there were more lil white boys walking around with there pants under there butts thinking there more hardcore than "Thugs" (white&black) themselves! Ok, but here's my point: Idols include “ any and everything that entices a person away from duty, loyalty, and love for and service to God (Whomever Yours Is).” So Actors, Singers, Politicians are all gods of power, wealth, and influence (whether they choose to be or not).
Miss California spoke something, in her view, that was positive and right. It was her "Freedom of Speech", the same that Ellen, Rosie, and Clay displayed by saying, "I'M GAY." I'm not saying that neither of the above names were right or wrong, just showing the similarities in the fact that they all invoked there "Freedom Of Speech" clause.
So, here's Pope View: What you decide to do with your life is up to you. No one, AND POPE MEANS NO ONE, is exempt from the making mistakes….Just remember, mistakes happens at an instance and usually aren‘t long, over thought, calculated, premeditated moves. If it‘s all of the latter, then YOU MEANT TO DO IT!
In closing, it's very clear (for some at least) of the direction that this nation/world is heading in. Kids shooting parents, parents killing kids, 50 year old men marrying an 8 year old girls, Kids abducted regularly and killed, More Murders, More Suicide, etc. Did the scripture forecast these things and that which is to come? Of course. Are the scriptures in place to be a guideline for one to follow? Absolutely! Is it a must to follow such guidelines? Of course not. But know that you put yourself at risk.

This is my 1st comment ever on the Pope's comment board! First of all, I want to say that is great that our Pope has the guts to speak out on these issues that most athletes would completely find taboo and scared to write and talk about. Thank you Pope and much respect to you!
Now to this issue. After want I have been through and witnessed in my life in just over the week, I can tell you we are a society going down a 1 way street to a dead end 1 way street. It would take me too long to say everything I want to say. Pope said it all best and I completely agree with him!

I can not stand the media and the media to me is the "Devil" because they are a big reason why our society is where it is today. They are here to kill, steal, and destroy! They constantly promote all the things that the Devil would promote. Never here the media promote what God has to say in the Bible these days. Thursday was the National Day of Prayer. Basically no media coverage for this day. Tuesday and Wednesday were dystonia advocacy day in DC. Absolutely no coverage about this disease that me and about 300,000 people in the USA go through hell with everyday of our lives. Just this week the things that needed to be covered were not covered. Yet the media contiues to bash Miss California for what she said was her belief which she got from the Bible. Very sad indeed! Our new President, Mr.Obama, did not even observe National Day of Prayer. I voted for President Obama because I could not take any more of Mr. George W. Bush, but I am upset about him not observing this. The people who went to dystonia advocacy day in DC who have dystonia made no mention of President Obama being invovled at all. Very disturbing to me. They talked to aides of both Republican and Democrat Senators who said there might be more funding going to Dystonia research. How much and when who knows. I will believe it when I see it. You would not believe what I have been going thru to get SS Disability in Florida. A complete 3 year nightmare of being denied and given the run around. I just got a new lawyer and hope to finally win case. Believe me, it continues to be a difficut fight beyond imagination how they have treated me like a piece of garbage and a nobody! It really hurts emotionally and physically! Nobody should have to go thru what I am going thru to get this SS Disability. Our former President, George W. Bush, really did not do much good either in this area either while running this country into the ground! Now, we have a President who does not observe a religious day of prayer but will definately promote issues that go against the Bible. How can this country survive when we go from one horrible leadership administration to another that is moving us down a path to destruction!
Also, this week to show how screwed up our society is, I turned on my local news and over a 24 hour period here were just 3 examples that we live in a lost and dying world. First,that baby that was mentioned in previous comments happened in Tampa, FL. Another young person in this lost and dying world ended up rolling down his window and tossing the baby out his window on to interstate 275 while he was driving at a high speed. Next, here in Lakeland, FL where I live, less than 2 miles from my house, a 34 year old man shot and killed his wife, his baby, his daughter, and tried to kill his 13 year old who somehow escaped the gunshots at him by his father. Then his father shot himself in the head for his suicide death. Finally, a man at wit's end from betting all his money and who knows what else was so upset that he went out into the driveway of the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Tampa and shot himself in the head. Another suicide. This is just 3 horrific examples of where our society is headed and that is a 1 way street to a dead end!!!!

I'd like to say that Miss California is back in the spotlight. I guess it took deep scouring and searching for someone to find something related to her in efforts to most likely put her out there on the spot, or belittle her, especially due to her opinion in a highly debatable subject. Despite the recent occurences, Miss California opinion should be respected, marriage should be as it has always been, between a man and woman. Interesting enough, though if Clay Aiken, Rosie O'Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres had explicit or near explicit pictures surfaced of them around the net, would they be mocked too or being that their stats are on a higher level than Miss California, maybe not.
I believe there are grander issues in our world let alone on this planet that need to be a priority than most that have become. Yeah, this world is heading for a self destruct demise. I read a story in the news about a guy that beat up, kidnapped, and threw out a 4-month old baby onto a freeway. How heartless and evil is that. Just sad and terrible.

In addition to the gay pride movement that seems to be going on...the swine flu seems to be a major issue now. I heard some news sources call it a pandemic and the CDC is rushing to create a cure but HIV/AIDS have been a pandemic for more than 20 years now. There is no rush to find a cure for it, only medication to allow people to live a bit longer. People can walk around wearing masks on their faces to keep from contacting this virus but people cannot practice safe sex by wearing a condom. HIV/AIDS will never be a priority because it does not affect the "majority." HIV/AIDS is considered a "minority" disease and minorities do not deserve a cure? Yes, we all must do our part but the same sense of urgency should have been given to this virus just like the others.
This country has always made a big deal about issues that serve no purpose for people. We are concerned about Ms.America comments and other people making racial statements. Everyone has freedom of speech. What about the ongoing wars, diseases, poverty and other issues that are ignored daily?

I read the title
A man and woman create a union of marriage, traditionally. But then again, tradition could in fact be one of the most known arguments in defense to any topic. For example, the defense of the Pledge Allegiance’s “One Nation…Under God…” Well recent times (people) are not custom let alone following a standard, readership, or let alone religion, if at all. The world is steadily changing and so are people, their beliefs, morals, ethics amongst others are too. In the world today, we all are challenged at the suggestion of risks, and in taking chances on a constant basis. I believe a true faith is good to hold onto and have, in those times especially and to follow. It’s a devout we should all possess. Hope my two pennies make sense. Anywho, this was a very interesting read Pope, I always enjoy reading your conception of many topics.
No matter how many times you make me upset..lol I really respect that you stand on what God/ The Word says.
That being said .....I do believe that Marriage should be between a Man and Woman. I think most people today are to sensitive and is waiting for someone to hurt their feelings. The media ( which I despise) talks about "Gay rights" now don't get me wrong what every life style YOU chose to live is up to you. I just don't like the fact that you have to LABEL a group of people whether its Gay ,Black, White, ect. Now back to the issue of what marriage should be is clear.
One Man + One Woman= Marriage. You know its sad that on 9/11/01 people was on their knees praying to God that the enemy who did this would pay and Family's (as a result of marriage ) could move on. America wanted God and He was their. I just don't get the idea that People KNOW this is wrong in God eyes and they just do what they feel that good for them.
This don't mean Gods HATES "Gay Marriage" just the spirit that Devil has assigned over parts of America. just like the Word says in Ephesians 6:12

Pope, you made truthful statements. At times, I have been faced with decisions to be of this world or to be with Christ. Of course the latter is the right and only path to take. The best thing is that if a person is true and repent (really repent) then GOD will always forgive. Everyone is entitled to a second chance. Its too bad many people do not know this.
I appreciate your honesty and openness. These are topics we need to discuss and too many times it is overlooked.
